DEDICATION CEREMONY, RIBBON CUTTING MARK OPENING OF THE NEW MEEKER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
School board member Bill de Vergie and Susan Goettel, superintendent, along with other board members did the honors during Monday’s dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Meeker Elementary School.
Mary Strang, school board president, hugged Jason Hightower, principal of the new school. Also below left: Members of the Meeker Lions Club served more than 500 hamburgers in less than one hour at Monday’s dedication event, which drew a big crowd.
Members of Meeker VFW 5843 served as the color guard for Monday’s ceremony. The local VFW Post donated flags for the new school, including one in every classroom.
Twins Bella and Jake Blazon, right, helped to cut the ribbon. They will attend pre-school at the new school. Classes in Meeker began on Wednesday. See additional photos at www.theheraldtimes.com.
