MEEKER I Colorado Bike Month is being celebrated during June in Meeker, and the Meeker Chamber of Commerce has a couple of activities planned including Bike to Work Day on Wednesday.
The chamber wants to make Meeker more bike friendly, and the chamber office will have all kinds of bike safety information, healthy snacks and fun bike gear on hand, and is asking residents to share your “Better Biking in Meeker” ideas and to enter the prize drawings, which will be held every Friday.
Bike to Work Day will be celebrated at noon on June 25 at the old elementary school downtown, and residents are urged to bring the family and the family bikes.
Bike riders are also urged to register bikes with the town of Meeker.
On Wednesday, there will be a kids’ bike rodeo, where kids (and adults) can learn bike safety, ride the obstacle course and learn about “Blazin’ Trails,” a free fitness and wellness program. There will also be chances to win gift baskets full of bike gear such as helmets, lights, pumps and more.
