Four Rio Blanco County basketball players played in the prestigious USA Junior Nationals All-State High School Basketball Competition last weekend in Denver.
Rangely senior Caleb Templeton and sophomore Brittany Babineaux and Meeker junior Trey Morris and sophomore Kaylyn Edwards were all invited to compete in three games with other Colorado players at Regis University in Denver.
The USA Junior Nationals is considered the top amateur high school basketball competition in the United States and viewed as an entry level to international competition and an opportunity for high school athletes seeking college basketball scholarships.
Players are exposed to competition against players of equal or superior skills and observed by college coaches on all levels.
Teams will be formed from the Colorado Junior National competition to represent Colorado in the International Sports Festival 2011, scheduled for July 18-24 in Columbus, Ohio.
This was the second year Babineaux was invited to participate.
