MEEKER I Manned by 15 JV players, the Cowboys beat Coal Ridge’s JV, 34-6. Freshman fullback Devon Pontine ran for 218 yards on 19 carries, scoring on 60-, 39- and 19-yard touchdown runs. He got good backup in the rushing department by sophomore Jeff Wagner, who contributed 114 yards on 16 carries from his tailback position. Jeff had a 9-yard touchdown run plus four runs over 10 yards each.
Over all, the JV rushed 53 times for 387 yards, threw eight passes for 21 yards and ended the night with 61 total attempts and 408 yards. The Black and Gold had 20 first downs. The offensive line did an outstanding job and they were led by Kash Atwood, Adrian Shroyer, Nakoma Bailey, Noah Overton and Tyler Pollock, a 170-lb. freshman. Blocking at the corner also contributed greatly to the outcome and receivers Tristin Pelloni, Tayler Slaugh, Matt Frantz, and blocking back Costin Pallach did an outstanding job. Connor Pfister, Pelloni and Dillon Frantz, Tony Collins and Wagner did a good job from their secondary positions.
Kash Atwood had a couple of outstanding kickoffs that led to the kickoff team getting possession of the football.
Leading tacklers were Pallach, Peloni, Dillon Frantz, Tyler Pollock, Connor Pfister, Devon Pontine, Bailey, Overton, Dunham, Matt Frantz, Slaugh and Tony Collins.
