RANGELY | The RHS lady Panthers traveled to North Park Sept. 23. Junior varsity beat North Park in two. Great serving led the lady Panthers to their win. Varsity dropped the first game and came back and took the next three. Set four was a bit exciting with the ladies winning 26-24 after being down seven points. Great defense from Katelyn Brown and Halie Elam helped the ladies come back. Sarah Connor led with 12 kills, while Katye Allred had eight kills and Lindzey Thacker had seven kills. Saturday’s matches against Vail Mountain proved to be high excitement. White Team lost but not without giving Vail a hard fight. They won the first set 25-23 only to have set two flip-flop the score to 23-25. Set three the ladies came up a little short losing 11-15. Cia Buxton had some good net play and Marlena Miller had some great serves. These young ladies have raised their level of play and are getting better each time they step on the court. The JV team came out on fire in the first set, winning 25-10. Aspen Rhea and Makenze Cochrane had some amazing hits to set the tone. The ladies struggled to keep their momentum and lost the second set 21-25. Set three the ladies pulled ahead winning 15-9. Varsity came out ready to play in the first set, winning 25-22. Good serving and great net play contributed to winning the first set. Set two the ladies came up short losing 23-25 not capitalizing on key plays. Set three the ladies were still battling from the loss of the previous set and let their mental game get the best of them dropping the third set 23-25. The ladies decided that set four would be theirs and they pushed their serving game and won 25-19 pushing for set five to decide who would come out on top. The ladies decided that enough was enough and pulled out the win, beating Vail Mountain 15-9, winning the match for the day. Sarah Connor led with 12 kills, while Lindzey Thacker and Katelyn Brown had eight kills each. Great play all around by the ladies and pushing through. The lady Panthers travel to Soroco Friday, Sept. 30 and play at home against Hotchkiss on Saturday, Oct. 1.
