RANGELY I The Panther volleyball team and new coach Dennis Rohn prepared to kick off the regular season by testing their skills in a series of one hour matches in Montrose last Saturday.
Coach Rohn said of the weekend, “There is always room for improvement in all aspects of the game, but the biggest highlight is that the girls are really starting to understand the game of volleyball.”
The team is led this year by senior captains Haley Enterline and Jenny Dunker. Coach Rohn is excited about the teams’ leadership. “Haley is a leader on the floor and she will be a force this year,” he stated. Other team captains are Quincy Thacker and Leslie Hernandez.
The Panther volleyball team has high expectations going into the season. Rohn believes there are many strong teams in the league. He said, “Every time we step onto the floor we need to have all cylinders firing at the same time.” He believes the girls are working hard and he is pushing them hard. The kids are adapting well to things done a little differently this year, as with any change in coaches, and Rohn is pleased with the way they are willing to work hard for the team. “With the team captains leading the way and everyone knowing their role, that success is waiting for them.”
The team is set to begin their season this weekend. The Lady Panthers look forward to the excitement that lies ahead.
