RANGELY I The lady Panthers volleyball team traveled to Paonia and Hayden last weekend for two league matches, losing in Paonia but winning in Hayden last Saturday. Rangely will host Vail Mountain Friday in the “Think Pink” game, played in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
“Paonia played well and we did not come out ready at all,” head coach Jimmie Mergelman said of the match against the lady Eagles. “We played much better by the third game but not good enough to pull out a win.”
Rangely lost the first game 11-25 and lost the second game 16-25 before losing the match with a 21-25 loss in the third game.
Quincey Thacker had seven kills against the Eagles and Brittany Thacker had seven solo blocks.
“We traveled to Hayden Saturday and played well,” Mergelman said.
The lady Panthers won the first game 25-14 and dominated the second game with a 25-8 thumping before needing an extra point to win the match with a 26-24 victory in the third game.
“My freshman DS, Justyne Dembowski played well in both matches, as did Aimee Hogan and Quincey Thacker,” Mergelman said.
The lady Panthers will host Vail Mountain Friday and travel to Walden Saturday to play the North Park Wildcats.
