RANGELY — Tournament play for the Lady Panthers started a little rocky, but they ended up playing their top games at the right times.
At the district tournament we did not play our best volleyball, we only played good enough to advance to regionals.
I knew that we would have to perform much better in order to advance to state. Going in as the No. 4 seed, we knew what we needed to do in Palisade.
We opened up against Mancos which was the No. 1 seeded team.
We started with a 25-20 win, lost the second game by the same score and then won the next two matches.
The Rangely girls were excited by their win over Mancos, and this carried over into their next game against Meeker.
We knew that if we could win this game we could have a good chance at advancing to state.
Rangely won the first game 25-21, and the second 25-18, then lost the third game 16-25 and finished out the forth game strong with a score of 25-15.
I thought that every one of my athletes did a great job of doing what they were supposed to do whether they were in there for three plays or the entire match.
I am very proud of their determination and tenacity for the game.
I would like to thank everyone who went down and supported us at the tournament. I would also like to congratulate the Meeker Cowboys and Christy Atwood on a great season and thank her for all of her support throughout the year.
