MEEKER — Meeker High School graduate Joe LeBlanc, currently a redshirt freshman on the University of Wyoming’s wrestling team, finished third in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
LeBlanc won six matches on his way to the consolation championship, including an overtime win over the seventh-ranked wrestler in the country in the first round. LeBlanc lost to the eventual champion from Boise State in the semifinals, who is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA Division I.
LeBlanc was recently named the Western Wrestling Conference’s wrestler of the week by league officials for his efforts and is now ranked 11th in the nation by USA Today/InterMat/NWCA individual rankings.
LeBlanc wrestles in the 184-pound weight class and currently has a record of 21-3.
