MEEKER I With family and friends in the crowd to watch him wrestle in the 37th annual Cowboy Open, former Meeker High School graduate Joe LeBlanc did not disappoint, winning four matches and the 184-pound bracket, along with being named the outstanding wrestler in the elite division.
LeBlanc earned All-American honors last year with a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Division I finals and is currently ranked fifth in the nation in the 184-pound division. LeBlanc won four matches in the Cowboy Open, all by technical fall (15 points), including a 16-1 win over Charlie Pipher of Western State College in the championship match.
LeBlanc (5-0) and his team will travel to New York to compete in the Body Bar Classic in Ithaca, N.Y., before wrestling duals with Michigan State and West Virginia in Binghamton, N.Y., this weekend.
