RANGELY I Lady Panther senior Holly Lepro broke the meet record and set a personal record in the discus throw, winning the gold medal in the event held March 30 in Cedaredge.
“It was great to be a part of the team with an individual breaking a meet record,” head coach Stephanie Kahler said of Lepro’s performance. “It was a bit of an off week as far as major personal records, but the PRs (personal records) we did have were quite impressive.”
Lepro broke the discus meet record of 116-feet-9 set in 2010 with a throw of 117-feet-5 to win the event. Lepro also placed third in the shot put with a distance of more than 36 feet.
Senior Leslie Hernandez earned a person record in the 200-meter dash, sprinting the distance in 33.89 seconds.
Senior classmate Colton Coombs ran the 100-meter dash in 11.96 seconds and finished ninth in the 200 meter with a time of 24.75 seconds.
Rangely junior Andrew Morton placed sixth in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of more than 39 feet. Coach Kahler said sophomore Ethan Allred finished 10th in the 800 and junior Connor Phelan finished 10th in the 400-meter run.
“Mitchell Webber continues to take time off of his 100 and 300 hurdles,” Kahler said.
Webber completed the races in 19.19 and 47.46, respectively, placing 13th in each event.
“We took a small team this weekend due to some illness, injuries and family obligatins, but we are proud of all our athletes and their dedication to the team,” Kahler said.
“It’s still early in the season, and with continuous hard work and positive attitude, we’ll be ready for Palaisde this weekend and the future competitions,” she said.
