The Rio Blanco County Historical Society is always looking for new members and volunteers. Maybe you enjoy visiting the museum; it’s probably pretty likely you take or send your guests there. The museum, with its wonderful collection, is open every day, and it’s free. Please consider joining the historical society. Annual dues are very reasonable at $20 per person, $30 family, $50 business and $10 for seniors.
Election of two new board members and officers for the coming year will be held at the quarterly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 9. There will be a potluck luncheon, followed by a short business meeting (and election) and a presentation. This will take place at Kilowatt Korner beginning at 1 p.m.
We take this opportunity to say thank you to Joy Surveying, Leif Joy, and Amber Williams, for all the expertise and help in making the self-guided walking tour booklet a finished product. The professionalism, efficiency, and just plain work that Amber put into the project is very much appreciated. Booklets are available for $3 at the museum and contain a lot of interesting facts and little stories. It’s something you might enjoy, and another thing for your guests to enjoy while visiting Meeker.
We’re very excited for the arrival and showing of Between Fences, he Smithsonian exhibit, which will “play” this winter during December, January and February. There will be several events associated with the exhibit including a photo contest, “paint-a-picket” project, and various programs and fundraisers. Watch the paper for notices and articles and plan to attend!
Please call the museum at 878-9982 for more information on all our activities!
