7 Newz at 4 had the experience of a lifetime when they traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete in the Global Finals Tournament for Destination ImagiNation.
We worked together since October to develop a solution to the Breaking DI News challenge. When we placed first at the state tournament, we had achieved our dream of going to Knoxville to participate in globals. While at the global tournament, we met people from all over the world and saw many different solutions to our challenge. We participated in a couple of different camps, had a great time trading pins with kids from all over, and got to see the beautiful Smoky Mountains. We are proud to have placed 16th out of 62 teams.
We have a lot of people to thank for this memorable adventure. ExxonMobil donated a large amount of money to Meeker’s Destination ImagiNation program, but, in addition, numerous local businesses and people contributed to our being able to go to Knoxville. They include Sue Anderson, BOCES, Georgann Amack, Watt’s Ranch Market, Mountain Valley Bank, WREA, Patti Arrington, Meeker Auto Parts, Lori Chintala, Northwest Auto, The Vet Clinic, Tri State, Valley Hardware, Ol’ Crows, JH Sheridan, RBC Abstract, Todd Young, Angels and Outlaws Daycare Center, Dr. Vandiver, Maguire Auto Parts, Gerald and Twila Morris, Hallie Blunt, Jamie Rogers, Ma Famiglia, Peggy Shults, Dirck and Sondra Garcia, Lorrie Main, Jason’s Auto, Cathie and Hal Dolan, Amanda Parde, Vern Amick, Kent and Kris Borchard, John Kobald, Joe Fennessy, MGM, Tim Boesch, and several individuals from Town Hall, the police department, and Meeker Elementary. Thanks to everyone for their support. We wouldn’t have made it without you.
