Rio Blanco Farm Bureau strongly promotes safety on our farms and ranches. Unfortunately, agriculture is still one of the most dangerous industries and children are too often hurt or even killed while playing or working on farms.
March 7-13 has been designated as Agricultural Safety Awareness Week. Richard Connell of Grand Junction is the Colorado Farm Bureau Health and Safety Coordinator. He has created the CFB Safety and Health trailers allowing Farm Bureau to bring the safety message to rural Colorado. Already twice he has been in Meeker promoting safety for all of us enjoying rural living around tractors, ATVs, electricity and oil and gas installations. The trailers are stocked with numerous “ready to go” educational programs including the risks associated with driving under the influence of alcohol or the dangers of methamphetamine.
Rio Blanco Farm Bureau has given financial support to the safety program. Richard and his safety team are always ready to bring the program to our schools or community events. If you are interested, call 878-4138.
