I am writing to announce my candidacy for the office of Rio Blanco Commissioner, District 1 and to ask for your support. I consider myself a strong conservative and firmly believe in limited government. I would consider it an honor to represent the citizens of Rio Blanco County, especially on issues that affect all our livelihoods.
I grew up near Meeker where my family operated a logging and sawmill business. I graduated from Meeker High School and then completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Forest Products at University of Minnesota. Since returning to Rio Blanco County my wife Betty Lou and I raised three children while owning and operating a small business for the last 35 years. From 1983 to 1995 I ran a retail building materials business. In 1989 I started a wholesale tree farm that produces and distributes nursery grown trees throughout Colorado and other surrounding states. My daughter and son-in-law recently purchased this business from my wife and I.
With my natural resource background, combined with the years of owning and operating a business in Rio Blanco County make me well suited to serve the citizens of the Rio Blanco County as their County Commissioner. I have had the opportunity to represent our landowners on variety of natural resource issues while serving on the White River Conservation District since 2006. I have served as the President of the Colorado Association of Conservation Districts, as well as other regional and national leadership roles within the conservation districts. These experiences have helped me realize my passion for advocating for the values, customs, and culture of our area and I look forward to serving Rio Blanco County in a similar leadership role.
It is the role of the county to be a strong advocate for its people on all decisions made at all levels of government. I would appreciate the opportunity to represent the people of Rio Blanco County as well as promote common sense county government.
I respectfully ask for your support.
