Dear Editor:
Meeker’s local P.E.O. Chapter would like to extend a gracious thank you to the community for its support of our seventh annual “Quilts in the Country” quilt show and bake sale held at the Fairfield Center during the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials. This fundraiser enables us to continue to assist women in their educational endeavors as well as allowing us to create a scholarship in Meeker, which is open to high school senior women looking to pursue their secondary education at a vocational or trade school. We believe that assisting women in all stages of their educational journey is important, and we thank you for supporting us in our mission.
We would like to thank the Rio Blanco County Commissioners for allowing us to use the Fairfield Center; Mary Cunningham, director of the Meeker Classic for including our quilt show in the list of activities; the Chamber of Commerce and the Herald Times for the amazing articles they include in the local paper.
Each year and we display new quilts as well as quilts that were made by past generations from all over Northwestern Colorado. This quilt show and bake sale take many hands to make it a success and we thank all who attended and those who participated by loaning us their quilts.
