On Aug. 10, qualified voters of Colorado will determine which candidates’ names they want on the general election ballot. As noted in a June 17 classified ad, the August primary election will be a mail-ballot election and voters must be affiliated as Republican, Democrat or Libertarian in order to automatically receive a ballot. Persons who are currently registered as unaffiliated or not registered to vote will not automatically receive a mail ballot.
Affiliated voters must be affiliated with the political party of their chosen candidate at least 29 days prior to any election in order to vote for that candidate, and their voter registration must show their correct name and current mailing and physical addresses. The deadline to register to vote, change party affiliation or correct names and/or addresses is July 12. Please take the opportunity to confirm your voter affiliation by contacting the RBC Clerk and Recorder (878-9460) or by going online at www.govotecolorado.com.
Unaffiliated voters may affiliate and request a ballot up to, and including Aug. 10, by going to the RBC Clerk and Recorder’s office.
This is your opportunity to make your voice heard and decide who you want to represent you, both statewide and locally. Please take the time to research all of the candidates so you can make an informed decision. Remember, when all candidates for a particular office are affiliated with the same political party, whoever wins the primary election will become your elected official. No matter which candidates you favor, please take the time to make sure your vote counts and vote.
