For the past two months Rangely 4-H members collected shoes at the Western Annex, Recreation Center, and the Parkview Elementary School. In the end 135 pairs of gently used and new shoes were collected. Forty pairs of shoes were distributed to needy families in Rangely on May 24, 2012, and the remaining 95 pairs were sent to the SHOES 2 SHARE Organization in Maryland.
SHOES 2 SHARE is a grassroots, charitable ministry with a passion to serve. They seek to make life more comfortable around the world, for children and their families, through the donations of “new and like new shoes.”
They have a growing beneficiary list that includes international and domestic programs who receive these shoes so individuals are able to participate in school, church, sports, work or just everyday protection of the foot.
The Rangely 4-H Program would like to thank all persons who donated shoes, time and energy to this community service project. We would especially like to thank Allen and Crystal Ducey, Tim Weber at the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District, Exalted Ruler Tink Wilson at the Rangely Elks Lodge #1907 and principal Bennie Bennett at Parkview Elementary School.
Thanks Again,
Roxie Leischer
