Letter: Thanks to emergency responders in fire

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Meeker Volunteer Fire Department, Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and our neighbors whose timely response to our brush fire on Sunday saved us from what could have been much more than a brush fire. It is a great thing that we have so many people in our community who are willing to donate their free time to meetings, training and the occasional unfortunate fire. Although we believe we should thank them every day, their speedy response makes it extra necessary. We would also like to take this time to thank the businesses that allow their employees to run off at a moment’s notice. Without them it would be hard to volunteer. Thanks again to all the volunteers who ran off on whatever they were in the middle of on a Sunday afternoon and saved our shed and possibly our house.
