Letters To The Editor, Meeker

Letter to the Editor: Amick family expresses thanks

Dear Editor:
The family of Sarah Elizabeth Kathryn Delaney Amick wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to all of the family and friends of Elizabeth who so kindly attended the Rosary service and Mass of the Christian Burial conducted Feb. 18 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
The Irish people celebrate life as a joyous occasion with an “Irish wake” in honor of their cherished family members. Elizabeth celebrated 97 years of an exceptional and extraordinary life as a cherished and beloved mother, grandmother, great -randmother, aunt and friend to many youth and club members. She was a member of the respected Delaney pioneer family of Meeker and Rio Blanco County. Donations in remembrance of Elizabeth were kindly made by friends and family to the Rio Blanco County Historical Society and to the General Federation of Women’s Clubs’ Minnie L. Harding Memorial Scholarship fund. A very special thanks to the Moffat District of the Colorado General Federation of Women’s Clubs and Lucy Myering for their kind remembrances of their friend and fellow clubwoman Elizabeth.
As is traditional for the Meeker and Glenwood Springs communities, many generous gifts of food, phone calls, flowers, visits, cards and letters were provided and gratefully appreciated by Elizabeth’s family members.
The family is especially grateful to Holy Family Catholic Church and Father Jim Fox, Deacon Bill Ertmer, for their hospital and home visits, and for beautifully conducted services for Elizabeth. Thanks also are extended to Sharon Clapper and the Bereavement committee for their kindness and support during this time. Thanks also to Father McMillen of St. Stephens Catholic Church of Glenwood Springs.
Ms. Anna Todd and Mr. Bob Eggebraten provided a selection of beautifully performed vocal and organ music during the Mass which included Elizabeth’s favorite Irish songs and liturgical hymns.
Diane Delaney and the Print Shop of Glenwood Springs wrote and published the remembrance booklets and snapshot photo albums commemorating Elizabeth’s life. Brooke, Dean, Bailey and Doak Mantle produced a beautiful slide show celebrating Elizabeth’s life accompanied by her favorite Irish Music.
A very special thanks goes to Kris and Henry Arcolesse of Ma Famiglia’s Restaurant for the generous donation of delicious food provided for the reception following the services.
The family is also grateful to Pioneers Medical Center physicians and staff, and for years of caring services by the dedicated Home Health Care nurses, as well as to the Valley View Hospital of Glenwood Springs physicians and staff, and to the Grace Health Care Staff who also provided loving care to Elizabeth.
Appreciation is also extended to the Rio Blanco Fire and Rescue ambulance technicians and Meeker police officers for their services, and to the Farnum Holt Funeral Home of Glenwood Springs for beautiful arrangements. Thanks is also extended to the Highland Cemetery District staff and Avis’ Village Floral.
A special thank you to editor Bobby Gutierrez of the Rio Blanco Herald Times.
With sincere best wishes and gratitude to all on behalf of Elizabeth’s extended family,
Robert Amick; Sandra and Harold Bradfield; Brooke, Dean, Bailey and Doak Mantle; Hank, Carmen,
Tyler , Alexsis and Joe Mckay; Haley and Bill Kracht; Diane Delaney; Rob Delaney; Ralph, Betty Ryan and Laurie Delaney
