Letter to the Editor: Barone Middle School thanks volunteers

Dear Editor:
As Barone Middle School wraps up a fantastic year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our many volunteers who have enriched the learning experiences for our kids.

Thank you Brooke Mantle, Jody Meakins, Mary Grady and Alicia Watt for the help and support you give in so many ways. Thank you Margie Joy and Trina Zager-Brown for your help with logistics and support making things happen with activities such as our career fair. Speaking of the career fair, thanks to this year’s presenters: Mike Weinbrecht, Blaine Franklin, Aaron Grimes, Tony Ortiz, Jason Kracht, Brett Berthelson, Matt Lyons, Brice Glasscock, Todd Gerloff and Joe Foster.
We had many volunteers during our academies this year that really made for some rich learning. Georgann Amack, Troy Osborn, Susie Goettel, Tom Knowles, Tonya Morris, Bob Lange, Clara Dupire and Wendy Gutierrez, thanks for being a part of our kids’ learning experiences.
We appreciate Dr. and Mrs. Williams for volunteering to run the MathCounts program this year that successfully sent two students to the state competition.
Stacey Burke, Shawn Luce, Clint and Tera Shults, Dani Feola, Susie Goettel, Laurie Simonsen and Jody Meakins helped judge the local History Day competition. Thanks for your thoughts and comments that helped our kids be so successful at the regional and state competitions.
Thank you to Kyle Bettige and the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife officers. Kyle spearheaded a fish salvage field trip and data collection lesson for the sixth-grade life science class. Mary Gillespie, thanks for taking our kids birding.
Finally, we would like to thank our student aides from the high school who helped the staff: Taylor Ahrens, Dominique Devour, Piper Haney, Kenny Kohls, Bailey Mantle, Ohana Mataia, Joe Newman and Jordan Smith.
The 2013-2014 school year was good for our students in large part because of the support of these folks listed. Please know how much we appreciate what you do for the kids.
