Dear Editor:
I would like to address head-on any concerns about my motivation running for the Meeker School Board.
Yes, I think my colleagues and I were treated very unfairly by the previous administration. It is not my purpose, however, to seek revenge. Rather, I think I can offer considerable experience and perspective to the board.
Along with my medical background and experience running a private clinic, I have been teaching college and high school courses for more than 35 years. During that time, I also served in various administrative positions, including director of the Natural Sciences Program at Providence College in Rhode Island.
Truth be told, I would rather still be in the classroom teaching. However, our new superintendent, Mr. Chris Selle, has implemented several positive changes to benefit learning.
A new board needs to codify those changes in policy, restore community confidence that teachers and support staff are our greatest resource and provide sound fiscal management for the Meeker School District.
I think I can help. Thank you for the opportunity to address these issues.
