I wanted to say thank you to everyone who donated to the “Single Soldier Barracks” project for Fort Carson. Those soldiers have arrived home or await the final two flights home. There were a total of 14 flights coming back to Fort Carson from Afghanistan. We had the pleasure of attending the welcome home reception for Main Body 8 that arrived at Fort Carson on Saturday, May 19. There were more than 300 soldiers on that flight alone and it was amazing to see them come in to the special events center there on base. It is an overwhelming feeling to actually see so many, but also to realize how many men and women are still overseas fighting. After talking with my son, my thank you grows larger realizing that those small comforts of home really do make a difference to them. The conditions that some of them have in Afghanistan are hard to even comprehend. So the generosity of the following was greatly appreciated: Charles and Deanna Vandiver, Hal and Cathy Dolan, Frank Hewitt, Layne and Pete Pearce, Mike and Patti Hoke, Sherry Robinson, Benny and Karen Jensen, and Joe and Patty Papez. If I have forgotten anyone I apologize and know that I am truly grateful.
Sincerely,
Brenda Boes
