Dear Editor:
We would like to thank the Masonic Lodge for doing such a great job of picking up the litter along the roadside on County Road 8 between mile posts 2 and 4.
For those who aren’t aware, the Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge Department has a program similar to the State of Colorado’s Adopt-A-Highway program.
Individuals, civic groups or businesses can adopt a section of roadside to keep clean, and, in exchange for their hard work, Rio Blanco will put up signs with the persons’ or organization’s name on it. Any two mile or more segment of county road is eligible for “adoption.”
At this time, only portions of County Road 7 and County Road 8 have been adopted.
We would like to remind those who have designated segments, they agreed to do their cleanup at least once per year. If they are no longer able to do their segment, they should request it to be rescinded.
Early spring is the best time to pick up litter before the grass gets tall.
Rio Blanco County’s Road and Bridge Department personnel try to pick up roadside litter as time permits, but we appreciate civic-minded people willing to devote their time to help keeping Rio Blanco County beautiful, two miles at a time!
Thank you,
Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge
