Dear Editor:
The Rangely Museum’s Ice Cream Social was a great success. Thank you all so much for attending. The winners of the Homemade Ice Cream contest were: First place with a certificate and a check for $125 was Phalon Osborn with Horse Tracks. The second place winner of a certificate and a check for $75 was Pauline Miller with Buck Eyes and Cream. The third place winner of a certificate and a check for $50 was Patti Tipton with Chocolate Chip Mint. Thank you to all our participants, we hope you will enter again next year. With an event like this there are so many that need to be thanked. You can’t have an Ice Cream Social without ice cream. White River Market donated all the ice cream and supplies needed to put on this event. Bill Hume at Nichols donated all the ice needed for the coolers to hold the ice cream. Bud Striegel donated the $250 for the Homemade Ice Cream contest prizes. We couldn’t do it without you. Thanks to Cheryl Robertson for donating $135 towards supplies. Also a big thank you to the Rangely Lodging Tax Board for donating the money needed for the newspaper ads. Thanks to Bobby at the Rio Blanco Herald Times for working with us on our large ads and coming out to cover this event. Thanks to Nita at the Rangely Chamber for also getting the information out on this event. Thanks to Billy Estes at the Rec District for making sure we had enough tables and trash cans. Our entertainment was Dan Fiscus who plays guitar and sings. He does a fantastic job, we really appreciate him. Also, his son Jarrod demonstrated how to knap arrowheads. Thanks to our servers, Susan Dempsey, Gordon Byers, Vickie Claybaugh, Shirley Collins and Dorothy Collins. Also Jean Hejl for minding our membership table and Loyann Hayes and Tom Collins for minding the buildings. We can’t forget to thank our three judges, who shall remain nameless. They really like ice cream. We hope you all had a good time and that you will join us again next year.
