Letter to the Editor: Turn the other cheek

Dear Editor:
In my home office where I do the paperwork for the Safehouse/Victim Services and the Rangely Cemetery, I have a sign. It is a quote from St. Augustine, “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.” That thought has helped me through some pretty bad times in my life. But there is another side to it. God loves you as much as He loves me. I have been with some of our Rangely families at some of the worst times in their lives and I think I have brought them a reminder of that love when it was difficult for them to feel it on their own.
I have been accused of having an “agenda” in this election. And I am here to tell you: Yes, I have an agenda. People vote for me because I do have an agenda, an agenda for town employees to be respectful and fair to the public. No matter what neighborhood they live in or where they work or how much money they have in the bank. And my second is that the employees will be respectful to each other. Sort of goes along with the, do unto others as you would have them do unto you and love your neighbor as yourself.
Everything else I will take as it comes.  That sound you just heard was me, turning the other cheek.
