PEO quilt show
Dear Editor:
Meeker’s local P.E.O. Chapter would like to extend a gracious thank you to the community for its support of our inaugural “Quilts in the Country” quilt show and bake sale last September in conjunction with the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials! The fundraiser enabled us to continue to assist women in their educational endeavors as well as allowing us to create a brand new scholarship in Meeker, which is open to high school senior women looking to pursue their secondary education at a vocational or trade school! We believe that assisting women in all stages of their educational journeys is important, and we thank you for supporting us in our mission! Our chapter is excited to announce that we will be holding our second annual quilt show fundraiser this year on Friday, Sept. 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8 during the Meeker Classic. The show will be held downtown at the old Meeker Elementary School and will feature a huge array of quilts, old and new, from across Northwest Colorado. If you have a special quilt, we encourage you to enter it to be displayed in the show! Please contact Stephanie Oldland at 878-4711 or Debbie Cook at 878-5642 for more information on entering quilted items, with the chance to win the prestigious people’s choice award. This year’s event will also include a raffle to win a one-of-a-kind, handmade quilt as well as a country bake sale featuring jams, jellies, baked goods and other unique, handmade items. I would like to correct my letter to the editor published on Thursday, July 26. The email sent from the sheriff’s office did not state that the “Meet and Greet” for the Republican candidates would be at Tanny McGinnis’ home. I apologize for the error.
