Dear Editor:
Our dog passed away July 1, 2012. His name was Gus. We adopted Gus from the Meeker Animal Shelter in 1996. The shelter was then operated by Kay Proctor. Gus was a best friend and a good boy. He loved life, food and adventure. He had the heart of a cowboy. Thank you Meeker for bringing such as wonderful spirit into our lives.

Dear Editor:
Sincere thanks and appreciation for all the help I was given Tuesday, Aug. 7 when I fell and hurt myself. I would especially like to thank Chief of Police Vinnie Wilczek, Roy Kenney, the ambulance crew (Shanna Kenney, Melissa Dembowski and Dave Jordan). They all came fast to care for me and made sure I was well taken care of for the trip to Grand Junction.
I received excellant care at Rangely District Hospital and the emergency room honoring Dr. Green and her nursing staff.
A big thank you to all the wonderful people who brought delicious meals, flowers, friendship and love. Also, we appreciate all the prayers that were said for my surgery and recovery. We also want to thank my most wonderful loving family, brother Ray Sanchez, sister in law- Olga Sanchez, and cousins for all their prayers, help, support, flowers and again delicious meals.
It is such a blessing living in a small community. People are all so kind, considerate and caring.

planning ideas
Dear Editor:
It is getting closer to that time of year again where the annual Christmasfest needs to undergo some planning. There are several things that need to be set in stone now, in order for this event to be a success.
The first thing would be the date of which this event will take place. Last year there were several Christmas parties planned on the same weekend, so we would love to avoid that at all costs. The weekend we are thinking would be best is Dec. 14-15? Also we need to decide on the theme for 2012, so please come up with your ideas and submit them to the Rec Center as soon as possible. There will be a planning committee for this event again this year so please contact Kirstin or Camilla at 675-8211 if you would like to participate, everyone is welcome! Thank you and look forward to your input.

Local natural resource tours
Dear Editor:
The White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts invite you to join a tour of local, state, and federal agencies; state and federal legislators; industry representatives; and other interested parties on a natural resource tour to be held in Rio Blanco County, Colo., Aug. 29 and 30 (Wednesday and Thursday). Wednesday is devoted to forest health and management discussions. We anticipate great networking between the tour participants in an effort to find solutions to forest management challenges.
Thursday will be in the west end of Rio Blanco County and focused on rangeland health, Greater Sage Grouse, wild horses, invasive species and oil and gas reclamation. Therefore, much of the tour and discussions will be in regards to BLM lands in addition to the private lands.
We invite you to join us and participate in the discussions regarding what is needed to continue improving management of these resources.
If traveling from the Front Range, you will be able to join the tour bus departing Denver at 7 a.m. on Wednesday and return Thursday evening. If you are coming from the western slope, you can meet the bus in Meeker at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Gratitude for kind, efficient care
Dear Editor:
At 2:50 a.m. on Aug. 20, we awoke to our 2-year-old girl falling out of bed. She had a deep wound on the bridge of her nose. We drove from the cabin we were staying at while visiting family friends in Colorado, to the Pioneers Medical Center in Meeker with a hope and prayer for medical attention. Promptly we were received with a kind, efficient and skilled team working with Dr. Turner. Their quick work and care was truly an answer to our prayers! Meeker is a lucky community to have such wonderful women dedicated to their profession and ready to serve. We wanted to share our gratitude to our nurse Kim, Dr. Seacrest and Dr. Turner in treating our little girl.

Attention prospective museum members
Dear Editor:
Greetings to all our present and prospective members. We hope that you all have had a productive year. As you know, it’s time to renew or become a new member of the Rangely Outdoor Museum. With your membership you will receive the quarterly newsletter called the “White River Crier.” This publication includes information on projects, new exhibits, news, tours, shows and history stories of our pioneers.
We have two new exhibits for you to see. We now have a black-light rock display which is hands-on fun for all ages, also Burma Shave signs up the walk path; two of the old verses are displayed.
We have also moved some things around and organized. Some new items have been donated such as a cream separator and milk can from the Crawford Ranch on Wilson Creek. We also received some rare copies of the Rangely Bull Sheet. Do you remember these?
Our annual ice cream social is coming up Septemberfest weekend, Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. We hope you will join us for ice cream, homemade ice cream, lemonade and entertainment. Who will win the cash prizes this year?
We will have copies for sale of Ken Bailey’s famous comic books, “The Mighty Energy Girl.” Ken is a board-certified cartoonist. His comic books are written, drawn and colored by hand. Come and check these out.
