Letters to the Editor: July 5, 2012

Thank you RBC!
Dear Editor:
I would like to thank the people of Rio Blanco County for their support and for voting in the primary election. At the county level, public participation is the key to making it all work. Rio Blanco County is a very good place to live and with hard work and perseverance we can make it even better. No matter who you voted for, it is a new day now and we can work together to improve our lifestyle. When you see me, let me know what your issues are so I can do some research and be ready to go to work on my first day.
I am going to start a website to keep you informed and also another place where you can give feedback and tell me what your issues are.
Thank you again for your support. I will do the best job for the county I am capable of.

Dog was fundraiser
Dear Editor:
On June 24, I held a fundraiser for the animal shelter. With the help of Marie Thorsted, Kathye Zobell, KP, Michelle P. and Stephanie D. we raised $191!
A big thanks to Rangely Town manager Peter Brixius and animal shelter manager Vicki Pfennig for being such great supporters and putting my flyer in the utility bill. A huge thank you to the employees at Family Dollar for donating dog treats, shampoo and brushes. Another huge thank you to the recreation center for letting us use the large pavilion and the water. We appreciated it so very much!
Our biggest thank you goes to all of you that came in support of our animal shelter. We are holding another dog wash July 22 in hopes of raising even more money than last time. Please come July 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in support of our animal shelter. Thank you again to all that came and donated for our animals at the shelter!

Coach says thanks
Dear Editor:
The newly formed Meeker 11-12 Little League Girls’ Fast Pitch Softball program competed in a Grand Junction League this past spring under the coaching of Janae Shelton and myself. The league is comprised of teams from Grand Junction, Palisade, Fruita and surrounding areas. The girls won half of the games played and learned that they can in fact “hang” and compete with the larger schools. A big thank you to our sponsors Moody Construction, Meeker Drugs, Meeker Collision and Shelton Welding. Also, Bill Jordan for the use of the indoor arena, Eastern Rio Blanco Rec District for the use of the fields and equipment. And thank you to John Patterson, Sammy Patterson, Taylor Morris, Jordan Smith, Anna Ducey and Trudy Burri for your help on and off the field; Diana Jones for all your extra work; and all the parents for your patience with the new league.

Meeker maintenance
Dear Editor:
Thank you for being there for all of us. I don’t think people understand how hard your jobs really are. Summer. . .we should try to imagine the work involved keeping a town running this smoothly and you do an excellent job of this. Winter. . .same thing, it’s hard work. Your job requires quite a lot of PR and I think you’re all awesome with the people of Meeker. Thank you guys so much for the amazing job you do and with a smile all the while.
