Roughly 60 Meeker residents spent an educational two hours on April 14 at Meeker High School, learning firsthand about President Abraham Lincoln.
John Voehl of Littleton captivated the audience at the free performance with stories and anecdotes about Lincoln’s childhood, young adulthood and his presidential years. Voehl also visited other Meeker-area schools on his visit, which was sponsored by the Meeker Arts and Cultural Council and the Rio Blanco County Historical Society. Voehl has portrayed Lincoln in more than 700 performances since 1996, and he said he has read more than 700 books and other materials about Lincoln.
