Additionally, Sullivan’s bird drawings are included in a group exhibition at the Woodard Artworks Gallery. Located at 12712 Lowell Blvd, Broomfield, Colorado, show hours are May 17 4:30-7 p.m., May 18 1-6:30 p.m., and May 19 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
A Meeker native, Jay Sullivan has been drawing for about 15 years in graphite, charcoal and colored pencil. His specialty is wildlife including four legged critters like elk and deer that he has watched since his childhood but also about any animal he gets to see from the backyard to travels across the USA. His method is extremely slow, about one inch per hour resulting in highly detailed fine art.
Jay and wife, Kaye, have participated in nearly 100 art festivals all across Colorado along with several out-of-state shows. His work has been juried into many art exhibits and shown in several Colorado libraries. The Sullivan team, now Meeker residents, publish a monthly newsletter featuring the latest art and stories plus maintain a website, www.jsullivanart.com, that includes an online gallery of his work.
