MACC, Shepherd’s launch “Paint the Wall” contest

MEEKER I Shepherd’s Office Outfitters and the Meeker Arts and Cultural Council [MACC] are pleased to announce the “Paint the Wall” downtown mural competition. This project is hosted by Chad and Jeanette Shepherd, who will celebrate their new store’s grand opening on Saturday, July 14 and they are pleased to join with MACC in the launch of a creative arts mural competition.
Shepherd’s Office Outfitters is the retail outlet for Radio Shack ® products and features a full line of quality office supplies, color photocopying and creative printing services, and also hosts the office for Red Fox IT computer services and web designs operated by Jesse Brand and Kasey Cox.
This spectacular and tasteful mural will be painted by the winning artist on the large brick wall of the east face of the store on Sixth Street.
The competition will invite artists to submit design proposals between now and the final design selection and unveiling in 2013. All design entries will be considered and then narrowed down to the top 20 designs by creative arts jurors. The top offerings will be voted upon by the citizenry of Meeker. The winner and second place entry will receive a cash award and the winning artist will be hosted in Meeker while they create their design on the east wall of the Shepherd’s Office Outfitter’s store.
The winning completed artwork design will be unveiled on July 4, 2013, during the Range Call celebration.
A downtown mural in the “town square” area of historic Meeker will add greatly to the beauty and cultural significance of the downtown area and serve as an attraction to visitors to appreciate the long traditional history and scenic beauty of the White River Valley.
Everyone is invited to join the Shepherds and MACC in this grand opening celebration of the new store at Sixth and Main streets this Saturday, July 14, and to share in the kickoff celebration of the “Paint the Wall” mural competition.
