MEEKER I Macy Collins attended the Northwest Colorado Livestock Exposition on June 17-18 in Eagle.
The expo began in 1969 with the purpose of helping 4-H livestock members develop grooming and showmanship skills in the show ring. The 4-H members spent the first day in workshops with resource specialists from the livestock industry learning about nutrition, grooming and showing. Members also had to take a written test and have an interview about their project. The second day, the members showed their animals in market and showmanship classes.
Each member is only allowed to bring one animal. Macy showed her ewe lamb, “Marlene,” and placed fourth in showmanship and third in her market class. She received the overall junior sheep test award and also the overall junior sheep interview award. She met some new friends, learned a lot about her project and brought home some great prizes.
