RANGELY I Forty-four golfers played in the annual 27-hole scramble at Cedar Ridges Golf Course last Saturday. The four-person team from Grand Junction took top honors.

Cedar Ridges will be the site of tournament play for the next three weekends, including the Rangely Open this upcoming Saturday.
Marty Marquez, Bubba Bullen, along with Luke and Mark Sansted finished the 27-hole scramble with the best score, an 86, four shots ahead of Rangely golfers Brian Prater, Robby Elam, Terry Richardson and Ryan Elam.
Hometown golfers Robert Morgan and Rick Brady teamed up with Craig’s Skylar Blackman and Bennie Bracket to finish with the best net score, an 84, giving Clark Edwards, Christopher Hejl, Tyler Dahl and Jessy Powell second, one shot back.
“The course played firm and fast, with challenging pins,” Hejl, Cedar Ridges’ general manager said.
Edwards’ team finished with a gross score of 91, five shots ahead of the Halcomb team’s gross score. Both finished with the same net score (85), so a sudden death playoff was played and Powell made a birdie putt on No. 2 for the win.
The Halcomb team, which consisted of Brandon, Ronnie, Travis and Alvin Halcomb, finished with third place net honors, while Grand Junction’s Ben Vigil, Paul Freeman, Mike Hirons and Tom Lefebre, finished with the third best gross score, a 93.
The Rangely Open, a stroke play tournament, will be played this Saturday, following by the 27-hole, two-man tournament July 30 and the Couples Classic to be played Aug. 6-7.
