The Rangely High School Math Club participated in two recent contests and did quite well. The 2012 UNC Math Contest in January had 2,655 students in the first round. Rangely’s Chelsea Ficken and Andrew Morton were among 210 who went on to the final round of the contest. Morton finished with an honorable mention as one of the top 46 students overall. Colorado Mesa University hosted the 2012 Math Extravaganza Feb. 9. Chelsea Ficken, Andrew Morton, James Scoggins and William Scoggins traveled to Grand Junction for the contest and workshop, competing with 100 other students. Morton tied for third place and William Scoggins turned in one of three perfect papers to tie for top honors.
