4-H Poultry and Rabbit Club

The Meeker 4-H Poultry and Rabbit club, The Cackling Hoppers, met on March 22. There were seven members present. Officers were elected, as follows: President: Sydney Hughes, Secretary: Maggie Phelan, Treasurer: Faith Ann Goedert, Reporter: Grant Sanderson, Pledge Leaders: Brooke Still and Sarina Goedert, 4-H Council Representatives: Jilly Baumguardner and Faith Ann Goedert.
Each member picked a subject for demonstrations which will be at the next meeting on April 26.

4-H Rocketry and Robotics Club

The 4-H Rocketry club met on March 22. There were seven members present. We elected officers as follows: President: Bob Lange (who is also our leader), Vice President: Brayden Garcia, Secretary/Reporter: Grant Sanderson, Treasurer: Tristan and Colton Wille, 4-H Representative: Colby Clatterbaugh. We also built rockets that night.
The next meeting was held April 5. We are going to have a launch on April 16.

4-H Council news

The regular monthly meeting of the Meeker 4-H Council was held on April 5, 2011, at the extension office kitchen. President Taylor Neilson called the meeting order. Colby Clatterbaugh led the pledges. There were 11 members, six parents and two guests in attendance.
The minutes from the March meeting were approved. Kelsey Gross gave a treasurer’s report. In the checking account we have $1,0451.22. The credit account balance is now $8779.34.
Old business:
– District retreat was held March 18-19 and was well represented with 26 participants, making us the county with the second highest attendance.
New business:
– Butter Braids have been delivered. The top sellers were Faith Goedert, Serena Goedert and Mason Scritchfield.
– Easter Egg stuffing will be April 22, at 1 p.m., in the old exhibit hall. We need a few parents or leaders to volunteer to help.
– The Mini-Trip will be June 7-9 for 4-H members from ages 8-12. We need chaperones. Call the office to sign up. More details about will be announced later.
The following activities will be on these dates:
– April 18, 6 p.m. – Meeker Meat Quality Assurance
– April 21, leave after school – Meat Quality Assurance in Moffat County
– April 28, 6 p.m. – Fair Board meeting in Meeker
– May 3, 4 p.m. – Swine weigh-in
– May 4, 4 p.m. – Sheep and goat weigh-in
The next meeting will be May 3, at 6 p.m.
