The Meeker Arts and Cultural Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Meeker United Methodist Church’s Elbert Hall. A major project for 2014 includes followup on the application for designation of Meeker as a Creative District from Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the Colorado State Office of Economic Development. Creative districts are eligible for grants and substantial promotion and publicity for local areas through heritage and agri-tourism, which are the top economic development engines in Colorado. Other topics will be the Meeker Palooza Music and Arts festival on June 7, “Capturing our Culture” oral history interviews at the Rio Blanco County Pioneers Association Reunion on April 7, and summer performing arts events. Your help is needed.
