Meeker chamber highlights members

MEEKER I The Meeker Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize the November members of the month! Kendra’s Kitchen, ERBM Recreation and Park District, Kacey’s Kloset and Code of the West Outfitters were randomly selected to be showcased this month!
Chef Kendra Wilcox established Kendra’s Kitchen Natural Foods Inc. in southwest Colorado in 1987. The company includes a healthy gourmet product line, including The Rub & Southwest Seasoning® and the SW Style BBQ Sauce® from Kendra’s Kitchen®. Both of these product lines were featured on the Food Network Channel’s “BBQ with Bobby Flay” TV series and are a repertoire in her cooking classes and meal preparation. The Rub & SW Seasoning® and Kendra’s Kitchen BBQ Sauce® are available online, at Avis Village Floral or at Kacey’s Kloset in Meeker. Visit Kendra’s website, www.kendras kitchen.com, for more information on her business and product lines.
ERBM Recreation and Park District was founded in 1981, as a non-profit recreation organization whose mission is to create opportunities for recreational, cultural and park activities for the residents and visitors of Eastern Rio Blanco County. For more than 30 years, ERBM has been the primary resource for recreational opportunities for children, families and adults in Eastern Rio Blanco County. ERBM has a strong tradition of improving the quality of recreation while working to meet the needs of our community.
ERBM is currently developing the Phillip and Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park. This park includes a trail system that will consist of roughly three miles of looped trails, varying in difficulty for use by all ages and abilities, as well as benches and covered shelters. The district is beginning its master planning process and would like to ask area residents to participate by attending district meetings, participating in surveys and focus groups or by contacting one of the district’s directors-at-large. Dates for upcoming meetings will be announced via the Rio Blanco Herald Times, as well as posted throughout town and at the Meeker Recreation Center. For more information on upcoming programs and events, contact ERBM Recreation and Park District at 970-878-3403 or visit www.meekerrecdistrict.com.
Kacey’s Kloset is a new, locally owned secondhand store. Located in the heart of Meeker at 335 Sixth St., Suite 6, business hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A close family friend of store owners Jackie and Kurt Pozorski gave them the opportunity to fulfill a dream of running their own business. With this opportunity the Pozorski’s have changed the name to Kacey’s Kloset in honor of their daughter Kacey Pozorski, who passed away in March from cancer. The Pozorskis make sure all donations (which are always welcome) are cleaned and neatly displayed. They offer a variety of products, ranging from new to gently used. For more information, contact 320-223-9642. As Jackie says, “There is something for everyone in our Kloset, what’s in your Kloset?”
Code of the West Outfitters is a family-owned and operated business offering full service outfitting and fully-guided hunts and drop camps in the fall. In the summer, they provide fishing and pack trips in the Flattops Wilderness and National Forest. Their permits run through the White River and Routt National Forests in GMU’s 12 and 24 providing exclusive public hunting areas accessed only by horse or mule.
Code of the West is operated by Joe and Jamie Wood. Both Joe and Jamie grew up in Northwest Colorado, and Joe has hunted most areas from Walden to Piceance Creek to the Cottonwood Pass area in Gypsum. The two moved back to Colorado from South Dakota to purchase the former Bar-H Outfitting operation and be closer to family!
