Meeker Chamber of Commerce offers hospitality classes next week

MEEKER I Prior to the Meeker Chamber of Commerce starting a Meeker Ambassador Program (MAP), the chamber will offer local hospitality training next week to local businesses, employees and individuals to assist in providing high-quality service and hospitality to increase and improve tourism relations.

Many chambers of commerce around the county have Ambassador programs, and often the Ambassadors, made up of volunteers, help with open houses, ribbon cuttings, hosting dignitaries and high-profile visitors and even with some fundraising events.
Stephanie Kobald, executive director of the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, said, “We are offering this hospitality training now so our local businesses can benefit from the training immediately, then, later this summer, we will be starting up an Ambassador program.”
The hospitality training will be held for one hour and can be taken Monday through Friday next week. Those interested in the training are requested to call the chamber and let them know when is the best time to take the one-hour class.
The Ambassadors will be trained in customer service, the history of Meeker and things to do in Meeker to keep our customers coming back.
Kobald said, “We would like to have as many people attend as possible. Let us know if you are interested in the training class and we will contact you to see when the class would be best for you.
“We want to help grow local business with customer service training and empowering employees with knowledge of local attractions,” she said. “When employees can help direct visitors to attractions in Meeker, we can retain customers and build business.”
The Meeker Ambassador Program is a new service offered by the chamber, and it has two components: hospitality training and the Ambassadors.
“The hospitality training is for businesses to use as a guide for welcoming our guests, providing genuine hospitality and showcasing Meeker as the wonderful place it is,” Kobald said. “We will provide hospitality training throughout the year, the first being next week. If you are a business owner, employee or citizen who is interested in attending, please call us.
“The Ambassadors are volunteers who work with the chamber to welcome, greet and inform our new residents and businesses, showcase Meeker for all it has to offer and to provide support at chamber events,” she said. “The Meeker Ambassadors are committed to welcoming new residents, new visitors and employees to Meeker through town tours, delivery of information and gifts, and providing effective, knowledgeable, courteous information and services.
“The Ambassadors will also welcome new businesses through participation in ribbon cutting ceremonies, and they support the chamber by volunteering at other events and activities,” Kobald said. “The personal connections we make with our customers, clients, guests and neighbors are among the valuable reasons they return.”
