MEEKER | This year’s entries for the Meeker Classic Art Contest are on display at Wendll’s Wondrous Things until the Sheepdog Trials, Sept. 9-13, when they will move to the historic Wilbur Barn in Ute Park.
Vote for your favorite entry, starting Sept. 9 at the trials site, when the silent auction begins. Laurel Haney, art chairman, will announce the winning entries and award prizes at the art social on Thursday, Sept 10 at the Wilbur Barn. First-place award is $2,000, runner-up $650, People’s Choice $350 and Best of Northwest Colorado, sponsored by Joe and Barbara Livingston, is $250. The art social is free to the public.
Rio Blanco County residents can purchase Meeker Classic admission tickets at half price at Wendll’s or the Meeker Chamber of Commerce. Discounted rates are $15 for a five-day adult pass and $7 for seniors (65 and over) and children 8-16. The single-day adult pass is $5 and $2 for seniors and ages 8-16. Children under 8 are admitted free. Discounted tickets must be purchased in advance.
