MEEKER I The Meeker Classic hosted more than 35 people, a dozen with required horse and dog, at a set-out clinic June 14 at the Strang Ranch.
Mark Henderson, Sean Casey and Nancy Penley, a professional Front Range team, generously offered their expertise gratis.
Outdoor classroom time was followed by hands-on setting of sheep, a critical function often overlooked by spectators at sheep dog trials.
Henderson said the group’s experience with stock gave them a “big leg up.”
After some additional training, attendees will volunteer to set out sheep at the Meeker Classic.
Volunteers are welcome for the many other facets of the trial events. Call 878-0080 for more information.
