MEEKER — Thirteen Meeker High School FBLA members traveled to Vail for the state competition Sunday, April 20.
Many competed upon arriving, and the rest competed the next day. All four teams are going on to the top 10.
The weekend was full of exciting events including phenomenal speaker Ben Glenn, also known as the “Chalkguy.”
He spoke to the entire Colorado FBLA group, as well as drawing a scenic picture on a bed sheet with chalk in less than 12 minutes. Workshops were attended by all participants and on Tuesday morning everyone woke up early to attend the closing session to find out their ranking after all their hard work in competition.
Timbre Shriver, Brenda Rowles and Jen Bain qualified for state in business procedures, but did not place. Sam Love and Shawnie Gerloff placed eighth in management decision making. Carlin Daggett and Quinn Wix came up ahead of them with a sixth place finish in the same event. Kelsey Kendall placed sixth in computer applications for the second year in a row and Sydney Cook finished with fifth place in business communications.
Cameron Glasscock and Jake Nieslanik also finished in the top five in global business with fourth place. Our Web site development team, Logan Sanderson and Jessica Mullins, finished on top with a first-place finish, earning them a national qualifying spot this summer in Atlanta, Ga.
The group has begun exploring fundraising opportunities, and we hope to send the two competitors off to nationals this summer. If you would like to make any donations, please contact Meeker High School office at (970) 878-9070 ext. 300.
Kendall is the Meeker High School FBLA president.
