Meeker firm demos wastewater system

OTIS, Kan. I This small Rush County community has been chosen for a display of new technology that is intended to make it possible for even the smallest of communities to better control wastewater. And the same technology can benefit farmers and local industry, according to one of the organizers of an event planned for Friday.
Jerry Dirks, sales manager for DSD Distributing — the distributor for Summit Industries of Meeker — is helping to organize the demonstration of the system, using the Otis city wastewater system.
Dirks explained the system uses new technology to eliminate the wastewater.
“The Forced Air Thermal Evaporator offers a cost-effective water disposal system that meets tough EPA regulations. Our field tests have shown evaporation rates up to 3,150 gallons of water per hour or 75 barrels per hour, per system,” he noted in an announcement about the Otis event.
Dirks said the units that will be shown could be used by municipalities, or for farm, oil field, industrial or other business uses.
According to the information from Dirks, the system that will be demonstrated “can be set up in less than one hour, cutting mobilization and demobilization costs. Designed as a portable system featuring easy set-up, a water treatment facility with numerous evaporation locations can use fewer units. Portability allows moving from location to location to eliminate volume in water storage system needs and enables more production, increasing customer profitability.”
