RBC I The Bureau of Land Management is now seeking public comment on an environmental assessment for a proposed expansion at the Meeker Gas Plant.
Enterprise Gas Processing, LLC proposes a plan to expand the Meeker Gas Plant by approximately 43 acres on public lands to process increased natural gas production. The proposed expansion is adjacent to the County Road 83 facility approximately 20 miles southwest of Meeker. Enterprise anticipates construction to occur in two consecutive phases each running approximately 18 months. When completed, the expansion will increase current natural gas production by 700 million cubic feet per day.
More than 17 percent of the acreage identified for the expansion is already in use through permits Enterprise obtained in 2009. Rio Blanco County estimates $5.3 million in annual property tax revenues, based on current tax levies, due to the expansion. Enterprise would offset the loss of mule deer severe winter range with a one-time payment of $77,400 to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for off-site habitat to offset habitat disrupted for the expansion.
The EA and maps showing the location of the expansion are available on the BLM White River Field Office website at: http://www.blm. gov/co/st/en/fo/wrfo/index.html
Public comments regarding this proposal will be most helpful to the BLM if received by Dec. 5, 2012. Written comments can be mailed to the White River Field Office, 220 E. Market Street, Meeker, Colo., 81641. Comments can also be submitted via email to [email protected].
