MEEKER | The lady Cowboy volleyball team is turning into a road warrior after winning two matches on the road last weekend and will travel for two more matches this week, including a trip to Craig today. Meeker defeated the lady Bulldogs in Hotchkiss last Friday in three games before traveling to Oak Creek the following day to beat the lady Rams in four games. “We served tough throughout the weekend,” head coach Janae Stanworth said. Meeker senior Reese Pertile and sophomore Kassie Luce each served for 15 points in Hotchkiss, Lila Klinglesmith served for 12, Maggie Phelan 11, while Krissie Luce and Peyton Burke each scored 10. Meeker beat the Bulldogs in three games, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15. Pertile, Kassie Luce and senior Halle Ahrens all had five kills each in Hotchkiss. Meeker continued to serve well against the Rams, as Peyton Burke led the team 34 serves for points, Krissie Luce had 15, Kassie 13, Klinglesmith 12 and Phelan 11. Fertile led the team with nine kills against the Rams, Krissie had seven, her twin sister Kassie had six and Ahrens had five. The lady Cowboys currently have a 10-3 overall record and they are 6-1 in league play. “We only have three weeks of games left until districts, so everyone is working really hard,” Coach Stanworth said. Meeker will play in Craig tonight, with the C-team starting at 5 p.m., followed by the JV, then varsity and then they will play in Hayden against the Tigers Saturday, with the C-team starting at 1 p.m.
