MEEKER — The Meeker High School Building Accountability Committee (BAC) meets Monday, Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library.
The BAC is a grassroots organization that discusses and makes recommendations to the District Accountability Committee on issues affecting policies and a healthy student culture at Meeker High School. The BAC is not a policy making entity, but makes recommendations about programs and policy.
Student culture is a topic of concern and regular discussion at BAC meetings and includes issues ranging from school lunch programs to substance abuse and bullying.
The BAC continually looks at ways to utilize resources for the benefit of the school.
Through tobacco grant funds, the BAC in cooperation with George Henderson is bringing a certified addiction counselor to speak to teachers at Meeker High School about basic drug education and awareness. This is a great example of putting an idea into action.
The BAC looks forward to becoming more proactive and facilitating programs that will benefit our teachers, students and Meeker High School.
The only requirement for participation in the high school BAC is care and concern for what goes on at Meeker High School. The meetings are the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the library. Please join us — we’d love to get your input on the challenges we have ahead.
