MEEKER | This year’s Western Slope League Champions, the Meeker Cowboys, are ready for another playoff run. Cowboy volleyball headed to Soroco last Saturday for their last league game of the year. The Cowboys won the games in four matches. The first match started out slow for the Cowboys with a lot of technical errors. The Cowboys pulled it together and beat the Rams in the last three sets. A top server of the game was senior Haley Follan. Follan stepped up to help lead the Cowboys win over the Rams. The Meeker C and JV teams both finished their seasons this weekend in Soroco.
The Cowboys have a busy weekend ahead as they host the league tournament at home this Friday and Saturday. The Cowboys host the top five teams in the league to help place teams for regionals. The Cowboys will play the first game of the tournament at 1 p.m. The tournament is planned around the timing of each game. The following match will begin 15 minutes after the previous match ends. The winner will have to win three out of five matches. An hour and a half is set for each game. If the tournament stays on schedule, the Cowboys will play again at 5 or 6 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, the tournament begins at 10 a.m. The Cowboys play Paonia in the third game Saturday afternoon and West Grand in the last match of the day. Come support our Meeker Cowboys this weekend.
