Temperatures are dropping and there’s a hint of what’s to come in the morning air. As of today, there are 99 days left until Christmas 2009. Time to start thinking about making those lists and checking them twice.
Meanwhile, practice for the holiday season with some non-traditional celebrations. Today, for example, is Apple Dumpling Day. Sept. 18 is POW/MIA Recognition Day. The Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah, begins at sunset on the 18th. Sept. 19 is “Talk Like a Pirate Day.” You’d better swing by the video store for some pirate films to brush up on the swashbuckling lingo. And fall officially commences Sept. 22 with the Autumn Equinox. There’s always a reason to celebrate something!
Birthdays are always good reasons to have a party, no matter what your age. Celebrating this week: Michelle Smith, Sept. 17; Christopher Ruckman and Jacob Neilsen, Sept. 18; Roni Bibb, Debbie Cook and Lance Pakuer, Sept. 19; Trula Simmons and Tod Gould, Sept. 20; Savannah Vaden, Sept. 21; Ty Koenig, Grant Koenig, Christine Halandras, Alicia Mobley and Terry Oliver, Sept. 22; Lanny Coulter and Tatum Kennedy, Sept 23.
