Meeker Locals

Is it any coincidence Tax Day and National Stress Awareness Month are both in April? Lots of Americans are coming up short-handed when they finish their income taxes this year. Blame it on the Making Work Pay Credit, a provision of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The credit was implemented using new tax withholding tables that reduced the amount of withholding taken from wages. For some taxpayers, although the credit enabled you to bring home more bacon all year long, you may now have to share that bacon with the IRS. Remember, even if you can’t pay right away, be sure and file your forms by April 15th anyway. The penalties for not filing are generally worse than the fees for late payment.
“It’s beginning to look a lot like …” Um. Here’s hoping Colorado springtime make way for some summery weather soon. Folks are getting grouchy even though April is traditionally one of our snowiest (and windiest) months of the year.
