The month of May shivered on to the scene under a blanket of heavy, wet snow — enough to knock out electrical power to many households on Sunday morning. The “winter that never ends” might have a lot of us grumbling, but we can be glad we just have snow instead of the flooding experienced in Tennessee, the tornadoes in Arkansas, or the undetonated car bomb in Times Square, NYC.
Steve Parr was recognized last week as a “Local Hero” by Grand Junction’s ABC affiliate KJCT-8. Parr’s work at the Environmental Plant Center was the focus of the feature. Congratulations, Steve!
Don’t forget this Sunday is Mother’s Day! And hey, kids, instead of flowers and candy, maybe go for doing some chores around the house without being asked?
The month of May is national Asthma and Allergy Awareness month, as well as Better Hearing and Speech month.
It’s also Asparagus Month. Does asparagus grow wild around here? If you know where to find it, post it on our Facebook page.
